iOS 9.2 iCloud backup still not fixed!!!

So I've been plagued with the Backup could not be completed problem and I've been waiting for Apple to release a fix and I was happy to see this problem mentioned as one of the bugs dealt with in iOS 9.2, BUT it was not actually fixed!

Now my phone is not backed up at all after all Apple geniuses advised that I delete older backups from iCould and try again, my MacBook storage is too small to carry my 128gb iPhone backup and now if my phone dies for some reason all my life is gone with it, well most of it!

Tried backing up my iPhone to external storage but Apple won't let you do that cause we are freaking slaves and not free to do what we want, so now I hope they would finally listen and address this issue that has been mentioned many times before!!!!

I have been going through the exact same thing. Have tried resetting network settings, signing out and back into iCloud, soft reset, changing what is being backed up, and recently before 9.2 deleting the old backup off iCloud. Now I'm in same situation have iPhone 6 Plus 9.2 128 GB with no icloud back up saying could not complete and last backup never! I did manage to get a backup to my iMac but really really don't want to do a factory reset and restore unless I'm for sure it will fix the problem.

Apple please help. You have acknowledged the problem but apparently the attempt to correct it with 9.2 did not work.

I have encountered this issue for months and finally resolved it today. I was reading through the thread and noticed the comment about a corrupt app db. I decided to remove all non-essential apps. Admittedly, it was the least intrusive method. I deleted then rebooted the device. The next manual backup was successful. I will post back after it has a chance to auto complete.

My previous steps had been to delete the stored backup (did that two months ago) and cycle the backup setting.

well, since I have 153 apps, that's a little difficult to isolate, I have tried this several times and not been able to isolate the problem. Apparently the backups work for a time until there is data accumulating somewhere, but I have not been able to tell which as the failure to backup does not coincide with the reinstallation of an app... I too have tried removing all but a few apps, but after about a week or two, and it appears to be working, my list of necessary apps for my business has grown, while continuing to backup, and the failure to backup appears out of the blue, not right after installing any particular app.

Same issue on iphone 5s. Tried everything includig a restore.

Called Apple support, they'seem to be aware of thin problem "officially" since wednesday. So they're working on it. It's not device related beut due to an incompatibility between their servers and ios 9.2. Hard to believe... We are talking about Apple... They propose an iOS version without having tested the compatibility with their backup servers ??

After almost two weeks of trying to address this issue, I need to forget about it.

I believe this issue needs to be addressed by software engineers.

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO GET iCLOUD BACKUP TO OPERATE!!!

I have performed multiple reset attempts and also set up my iPhone 6 as a new device.

I have experienced the following problems at some point in the troubleshooting process:

1. Cannot turn on iCloud backups.

2. Cannot select specific Apps to turn on or off for iCloud backups.

3. Cannot perform a manual iCloud back up.

4. Informed the device does not have enough iCloud storage

5. Prompted to purchase more iCloud storage

I've simply returned to the pre-iCloud days and I am backing up my iPhone 6 to iTunes on OS X.

I have been following this thread from the second post and can say that I believe this is a major part of the problem. However, it can't be the entire problem. I have had backup issues from before 9.2. I have also read a few people getting it to work with different iCloud accounts and or switching phones. That said it could be an issue with how existing accounts are tied to a certain device on their backup servers and correcting the above would indeed correct the issues. I'm crossing my fingers it will and they are truly working the problem.

I have had this problem since I upgraded November 26th, 2015. Apple told me that they were aware of this problem but it cannot be a real storage issue but some sort of replication issue because I am cannot even back up to itunes with 1T available storage. It states that I do not have enough storage to complete a backup. Apple told me that it would be addressed with the next update, apparently not, but if for some reason that something happens to this phone there will be no back up to restore from with an iphone, so it may be time to change platforms. I hate being so dependent on Apple when they are not fixing their problem.

I've spoken to Apple support today because as I'd mentioned earlier, this is broken on both my iPad and my iPhone.

They said that in the iOs 9.2.1 notes, this issue was fixed. That update just barely came out.

It didn't resolve the issue on either of my devices though. They have sent the issue to engineering for an investigation.

I recommend that each of you set up a new case with Apple support for this, as telling everyone else here won't help much, until one of us gets the solution from Apple and posts it...

Jan 22, 2016 1:57 PM in response to PhB66

They read through all of the support notes for 9.2.1 while I was on the phone with them, and one note says:

Fixing an issue that prevented some manual iCloud Backups from completing

...but because it didn't actually do anything for me, they sent a case into engineering and told me they will look into it. They said that they will be getting back to me within 2 days...and that they would look for this thread in the forum as well.
