itunes only showing "other" in the iphone summary sync line. the rest of my media disappeared... i can still see apps on my iphone via itunes for example and my phone is intact, but the line is all yellow as "Other". i am worried that if i restore from the latest backup i will erase my content. help.

All your content should be kept in your iTunes library, which you backup, so that you are always in a position to restore your device or a replacement in the event that it is lost, stolen, damaged or becomes corrupt.

Thanks. I have an earlier backup. But i am asking if i need to restore my phone or not.
Right now the phone seems fine and has all its data on it. But when i connect it to itunes it shows only "other" in yellow on the sync line. And if i click backup it looks as if it is doing something for about 1 second and it saves a backup. so it looks like an itunes problem.
Try restarting your device and your computer. You may get more sensible results.
