No.
No. No GPS hardware on wifi only iPad. It uses a location database of nearby Wifi routers compiled by Apple to estimate location. It tends to be pretty accurate though.
Phil & Meg, thanks you for the replies. I use an ipad with aviation apps and a customer at Best Buy tried to tell me that I didn't need to spend the extra money for a universal cellular model because all ipads now have a built-in gps. Going back this evening to get an iPad Air 2 with universal cellular while they are on sale.
Thanks again for convincing me that I knew what I needed in the first place.

Glad you were able to get it sorted out while still in the return period!
Apple has a "Maps" app included with the iPad. When you pull up the directions to an address it will say "Drive" on the top left & "Start" on the bottom of the screen. Of course "starting" the the "Drive" portion won't help those of us with WiFi only iPads.
I find I much prefer the "Google Maps" app for looking up & printing out my directions anyway.
