Simple Question: Now that SMB is the default protocol that newer Macs use to connect to servers is there any point is still trying to use AFP?
It used to be that there were issues with permissions and long file names but these issues seem to have been ironed out.
OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), Everything from iPads to Mac Pros
AFP is still needed if you want to host a Time Machine server. Otherwise, there's no reason to use it.
What about the files during transfer. Do we still need to be concerned about resource and data forks? We want to move to SMB but are afraid files may go corrupt during transfer. Especially with 3rd party software like Retropsect Desktop for backup. Any thoughts?
