Using FaceTime HD camera to make video

I'm on a desktop iMac 10.8 Mountain Lion. If I make a short video in Photo Booth 5.0.1, what resolution will FaceTime HD Camera film the video in? I'm told by an Apple Support tech that FaceTime HD camera films 1280 X 720. But then after I film the video, I export it to my desktop and it shows up as a QuickTime MOV movie, which is fine, except when I look at the Movie Inspector for the format, size, FPS, etc., it tells me the current size is 720 X 480. I need to upload the movie I made with my FaceTime camera to a site that recommends the resolution be 1280 X 720 for best quality. I don't have another separate HD video camera to use. Does anyone have any info about this?

Does this info give you what you need?

Neither QuickTime nor Photo Booth can make native recordings in 16:9 aspect ratio.

iMovie versions after iMovie 5 can. (Select 16x9 when creating a new project.)

Your recorded video is limited by the hardware resolution of your built-in FaceTime HD camera.

Software controls all Macs' inbuilt cameras. For info on recording formats for some

common apps, see http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3994616?answerId=18535582022#18535582022 When comparing

your Mac apps, use these relationships for Aspect Ratio ("16x9") versus Size Ratio (16÷9) :

Aspect Ratio Size Ratio Application

16x9 1.777778 Hi-Def

1920x1080 1.777778 1080p Hi-Def

1280x720 1.777778 720p Hi-Def (iMovie)

1280x1024 1.250000 QuickTimeX (max)

720x480 1.500000 FaceTime

1280x853 1.500586 Photo Booth

640x480 1.3333... iChat
