I'm trying to run bootcamp for Windows 7 on my early 2011 15" Macbook Pro and get to the point where the computer restarts and I get the following prompt:
CDBOOT: Couldn't Find Bootmgr
My computer's internal superdrive doesn't work anymore so I'm using an external drive.
Is there a fix for this? I can't find anything for El Capitan.

If the built-in internal Optical drive does not work, then you may want to try the VMware/Winclone method using - http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20584499#post20584499 .
Yes, thank you I am running VMware however for a couple of the more taxing programs I need to run do not work with the virtual machine. The external optical drive is reading during the boot but for some reason it is not finding this file. Just opening the disc I can see 'bootmgr' and 'bootmgr.efi' staring me right in the face so this is a little frustrating.
I have been banging my head up against the bootcamp wall for a couple weeks now and haven't found a solution.
Oh apologies, I saw VMware and didn't read deeper. I will try this possible fix. Thank you!
