Pencil won't turn off

Hey guys I'm pretty upset right now... I just got my Apple Pencil took it out of the box played with it for a couple minutes noticed it was at 100% battery then turned off the iPad and put them both away. Now tonight almost 24 hours later I turn my iPad on only to see the pencil is at 49%! Whats the deal? This thing is so cheap it can't even turn itself off and just runs 24/7? I hear people turn Bluetooth off and it goes off but have to re plug in to make it work again.. Turning the iPad off doesn't turn the pencil off? Thanks

This is sort of an absurd design solution. I only use my pen every few days but like to keep it with my iPad. What I would like to do is charge up the pen and then pull it out, when I want, fully charged. With the current "it's always ready to go" solution, what I get is that I charge up my pen (30 minutes on charger) then put it in my bag. A few days later, I pull it out and find its dead. Then, instead of getting to use it right away, I have to charge it from my iPad every 30 minutes of use.

There is no way to shut off an Apple Pencil because Apple wants you to always have it active whenever you pick it up to use it.

Disconnecting from Bluetooth doesn't shut off the Pencil, either. It only keeps it from draining faster from having the constant connection to the Bluetooth signal.

If you keep the Pencil plugged into your iPad when not using it, I think it will charge back up to full power in an hour or two.

FYI,

If you plug your Pencil into your iPad for 15 seconds, you'll gain a quick extra 30 minutes of use.

Good Luck!

Hey Michel I think I figured it out. I read online when you turn off Bluetooth it turns off and holds its charge.. When you turn it back on you have to plug your pencil in to get it to work again. In the box it is off and holds its charge so that means when turning Bluetooth off it turns off and plugging it back in turns it on. Thanks though!
