2TB 4th generation time capsule keeps dropping Wi-fi.

My 2TB 4th generation time capsule keeps dropping Wi-fi. It's not the internet connection. All SSID's are lost and I have to restart TC
It's not the internet connection. Randomly, the SSIDs on all bands and guest networks drop from the list of available networks on all devices.…My TC is connected with an ethernet cable with DHCP to a cable modem.Thx for the help!

I am running El Capitan on a MacBook Air early 2014, Iphone 6 plus 9.2 and a Windows 7 machine plus an Android phone.

I see you have posted in another thread that you did a firmware downgrade.

Please stick to this thread so you can mark it as finished or not.. we tend to ignore threads marked with completed answers.

I would also like to see what modem you are connected to. Make and model please.

My TC is connected with an ethernet cable with DHCP to a cable modem.Thx for the help!

That doesn't actually tell me what if the TC is router or bridged.

Sometimes unusual stuff happens when you mix up different wireless devices.. they do interact with each other.

Also the Gen4 does have some major issues when they get a bit older.

I presume you know the rest of the TC is working because you have ethernet connected device??

Hi! I have downgraded to 7.6.1 and the TC is in router mode getting an Ip thru DHCP from an ARRIS model CM550A cable modem.
And when the problem occurs even tho my the light is green and my Mac is connected to the TC thru ethernet I can't get acces to it.

I changed the SSID's to something like tecmac and 5ghz for the two bands also so the names wouldn't have any spaces in their names.

Ok.. so the problem is not just wireless.. both wireless and ethernet are failing.

The statement that internet is still working is based solely on the green light being on.

Is that correct?

I happen to have been working on a TC with the same fault over the last week.

If it shows up again fairly quickly.. and between episodes the time gets shorter and shorter, the capacitors on the 1.8v line are shot.

Unless you have DIY skills the unit needs replacing.

But the fix is extremely simple.. see

New issue with A1355 Gen 3 TC - LaPastenague

The second issue on that page.. bad or unreliable TC.. the fault seems to have affected a batch of Gen4 now as well. (Gen3 and Gen4 have pretty much identical main boards so this is not surprising).

hello thanks for the help but I am not experienced to do this kind of work.

here's what I did: I changed both my SSID's to a name without spaces plus the downgrade to 7.6.1 and switched my channels to manuals. Seems like it's working for now since it's been steady for a good 4 hours. I guess time will tell and I'll get back here to say if it was good or not.
