free office software and what is X11?

Hi, I have seen this posted before - but any new opinions on which free office is better? (open office or neo office aqua?)

What does it mean if I install X11 off my install disk to run open office? Does that allow me to run windows and some windows based programs? please explain? Will I lose anything off my HD installing this?

Thanks, Linnie

X11 is a "standard" cross platform windowing system. It is not MS Windows and will not run MS Windows apps. You can safely install it on your Mac; it won't run unless it's needed. It is not quite as plug & play simple as the Mac, but will let you run X11 applications. Personally, I don't care for the environment. I'd go for NeoOffice, which doesn't need X11. Others may have different opinions. 🙂
