GPS tracking error

As soon as I upgraded to ios 9.2 last week I noticed that all of my Map Apps were having difficulties pointing to my exact GPS location, be it Waze, Google Maps or even the default Apple Maps. I cannot find a solution to this.

I cannot even seem to downgrade back to ios 9.1.

I use maps everyday! So I could a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

Thanks Apple Community.

Well gang . . . here's one more apple in the barrel.

No pun intended.

I have had issues for the past two weeks since relocating from the midwest to South Florida. The reality of my problems is this new because, I knew where I was in Iowa, why use GPS? haha Verizon iPhone 6, currently on 9.3.2

The Usual Suspects have been of no help. I have, however, been finding an odd solution. Every morning, when trying to use Waze or GMaps, I will open Maps . . . and ping the help line using the Info button (bottom right, blue circle with an "i" in it) and report GPS not working. As mentioned before, at least this is a record being sent to Apple. Sometimes, as soon as I do that, I hear Waze begin to talk and navigate. Other times it takes a few minutes.

Similar to JRock, I am torn between hardware vs software. Apple Store said software. AppleCare ran a dx and said the same thing. I will be trying the Recovery Mode tonight via iTunes.

Those instructions are here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

We shall see what happens. I, too, am past my warranty (by about 2 months) and for $299 I could get a new HTC 10... or Samsung S7 (this is my first iPhone so it won't break my heart to go back, other than missing the great communication with my iMac, MBP, iPads, AppleTVs).

I'll keep you in the loop!!

Add me to the list of users plagued by this GPS issue. Started with 9.2 or thereabouts, still having issues with latest ***********. GPS is basically useless in most all apps. It cant get accurate enough location to give driving directions anymore. Really frustrating as this is a big feature I use a lot!

sigh, another case, iPhone6, IOS 9.3.2, problem started happening after phone was upgrade to one of the version 9. Upgraded to latest 9.3.2, hoping to fix the issue. Nope, same problem. Tried recovery mode reset, same problem. Genius bar ran a hardware diagnosis and reported no GPS issue. Yeah, seems like a software bug.

!!! APPLE, FIX THIS !!!

The flex cable was indeed the problem. However, I did NOT install a new cable.

I broke my LCD and had apple repair it twice. I realized GPS wasn't working properly after that. So i had some tools for iphone5 and i opened up my iphone6. It turns out that the rubber coating on my flex cable has been stripped off and moved down. I think this was due to poor LCD repair job by apple technician and possibly caused short or some kind of interference between antenna and metal part.

So what i did was to remove logic board and placed a piece of electric tape over where the rubber coating used to be. And it works perfect!!! I didnt have to place a brand new flex cable. My flex cable didnt have any cracks or sign of damages. After this electrical tape trick, my gps wifi bluetooth signals are much stronger.

Now the question for all you people, did you guys have ur phones serviced recently?

after my GPS died, I noticed my Bluetooth and wifi single decreased as well, but still worked, poorly. At this point I figured I'd try to replace the antenna. Apparently one of the connectors on the antenna slid off and was out of alignment.

I have an Iphone 6. My provider is Sprint. My family is on the same plan and is not having problems with their Iphone so I doubt it's the network.

My GPS has not been working for about 1.5 months and when I'm home my location is off by 5 or 6 streets. I contacted Apple and they said they were not aware of the problem. I sent them the link to this forum and they said they would have an engineer call me. They know this is a problem but have no idea how to fix it. I do not want to buy a new phone when this one should be working just fine.

I do not have a GPS in my car but I will be needing one very soon because of work. Buying a GPS is cheaper than repairing this phone. Based on this thread it would cost about 300 dollars. I refuse to pay that much money on what should be a working product. Any lawyers here? I say frustrated people v. apple. It's just been really annoying. I feel bad for the employees who are probably getting the most backlash because of this.

Me too! I am getting so frustrated. I have an iPhone 5 and I have been man Apple customer for almost 10 years and I always rep them. But I'm getting to the point where I am going to switch. I shouldn't have to deal with this problem as long as i have. Every update I HOPE that it will fix the problem and I won't have to complain. But I am done, Apple. please fix this problem or I will be taking my business elsewhere.
