ios 9.2 GPS Problems

iPhone 5s

ios 9.2

GPS tracking error

As soon as I upgraded to ios 9.2 last week I noticed that all of my Map Apps were having difficulties pointing to my exact GPS location, be it Waze, Google Maps or even the default Apple Maps. I cannot find a solution to this.

I cannot even seem to downgrade back to ios 9.1.

I use maps everyday! So I could a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

Thanks Apple Community.

Couldn't agree more. Awesome if you can afford the extremely expensive Apple validated repair, but you even said the Apple guy didn't even acknowledge there was a problem. I am very grateful for the advice, thank you! I'll do some checking around as far as getting it replaced, but I have never taken apart an iphone before so I am not sure if I am brave enough. Too bad Apple doesn't offer a more affordable repairs.

I can understand Apple wont officially support you going to an unofficial technical service, but there are millions of people who can't reach one, so they must know they can fix it elsewhere...

Think about it for a minute.

  1. Apple does not consider iPhones serviceable by anyone other than Apple or people trained by Apple. While there is some question about this policy, it is the current policy.
  2. A key point is that there are no standards of competence for independents who claim to repair iPhones. You take your chances that whomever fixes it won't make it worse or break something else.
  3. If you try to fix it yourself and break it, you will be angry with Apple for refusing to further repair it; they can't, because there is no way to know what you may have damaged, and to them the phone is a total loss. They can't refurb it and use it as a warranty replacement.
  4. If you recommend an independent to repair it, by allowing the post to remain a smart lawyer could convince a court that allowing the post to remain is an endorsement of that repairer and you could sue Apple if the repairer failed.

no you are not alone. ive been dealing with this problem on iphone6 for months now. did all the resets and restores known to man. took it to store and they couldn't find GPS problem. and compared my current location to the techs phone and they were different. i have LTE or full wifi signal and A-GPS is not working to the accuracy that is necessary for turn by turn navigation. I though I solved it by messing with Bluetooth connectivity however that gave me false hope and the issue came back the following day. I've had issues with apple phones since I got my first 4s.all different. I had it replaced 3times. thankfully within the 1year mark. but cmon obviously there are a lot of people that have this problem and a replacement is not an affordable solution for some. and why do I need to replace $700product for a software glitch or lets say a hardware glitch so soon after purchase. this is extortion. look at what happened to Samsung. these co. cut corners to deliver the most profit for their products and those products catch fire. They can afford a couple of bad apples. they pay insurance just like the rest of us. and write it off their taxes as a loss anyway. ********. its funny but I never rant online but this is just ridiculous

Well, I just went through the same headache as all of you - except with iOS 10. The fix was simple. I opened all of my GPS Apps (Waze, Find Friends, Maps, and Google Maps), and then logged into Find My iPhone. As soon as I did that, my location immediately updated and the "No GPS" statement in Waze and the others immediately disappeared and was ready for use. Odd fix, but it worked. Hopefully this helps, saves a few hundred dollars, prevents you from opening your phone up and risk damaging it, driving to the Apple Store, etc. Good Luck!!
