GPS tracking error

As soon as I upgraded to ios 9.2 last week I noticed that all of my Map Apps were having difficulties pointing to my exact GPS location, be it Waze, Google Maps or even the default Apple Maps. I cannot find a solution to this.

I cannot even seem to downgrade back to ios 9.1.

I use maps everyday! So I could a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

Thanks Apple Community.

I have been having the same problem for months since upgrading my iphone 6. Apple was NOT helpful as I spent hours on the phone with them troubleshooting doing the same things I had read online to try. None of that worked. They directed me to the apple store. I spent an hour there. They re-formatted my phone to its factory status, which I didn't want to do but was willing to try anything. They said "that fixed it" only to find out as soon as I left that they were wrong. They told me because the phone was out of warranty that I would have to pay 280 dollars to replace it.

Not only does my phone GPS not find my location which is problematic enough, but it has difficulty picking up wifi signals as well. I have to be within 5 feet of my router to get a wifi signal. This has caused huge data problems for me as well.

I feel like Apple has had plenty of time to resolve this problem if it were a software issue. I feel like when they make new phones they update the software and it screws with the old hardware, causing internal problems with apps that have been optimized for new hardware.

I have reached the point now where I am so frustrated with the whole situation and Apple not standing by their hardware/product, that I am planning on buying a Samsung phone. I realize Apple won't lose sleep losing my business, but I at least hope someone reads this and realizes how bad of a look it is for a company that has always prided themselves on their seamless customer service and convenience.

Well, crap. This thread looks hopeless for me. I have tried everything for the last 2 weeks and nothing is helping. It's not because I'm indoors or whatever, because even when I'm outside, it still suggests that I go outside to get better GPS connection. I restored my phone only to find out that that is not the solution for my phone. I don't have Apple Care. This is my first iPhone and I have LOVED it up until this point. I do not want to have a bad experience and go back to Samsung, but if Apple doesn't get their **** together, I will be forced to not recommend them.

Camille,

I ended up doing what you fear you might have to. After have iPhones since the iPhone 4, i switched to samsung about a week ago after mulling it over for 2 months. I couldn't be happier with my decision and at this point i'm wondering why it took me this long to pull the trigger. I got the galaxy edge plus. GPS works great, no more wifi or connection issues, no more issues with email.

Apple should have fixed the issue or at the very least stepped up to remedy it. Do yourself a favor and switch back to samsung.

Since yesterday i´m having the same problem on my iPhone 6 . Wake, google maps and apple maps don´t find GPS signal. It´s terrible because i use the navigation systems all the time.

Any answer from apple? i live in Argentine and i don't have apple stores here.

i don´t think it´s a hardware issue, because apps like RunKeepe seem to get the GPS signal but not accurately , waze doesn't get signal at all.

Come on Apple fix this!

I am having the same issue. I went to the Apple store and they reset my network settings. My GPS then showed my location accurately, so the guy said my problem was fixed. I then test drove around the mall area and the apple maps seemed to be working OK, but not google maps or waze. I returned to the store and let him know only one app seemed to be working ok. He then said it is probably an issue with google maps or waze, but if I continued to have issues then I should completely wipe my phone and start it as a new phone as it is likely a software issue. As soon as I got on the highway from the Apple store, Apple maps stopped working. I wiped my phone that night, and still my GPS is not working.

This is a nightmare.

Since I live in Argentine , we don´t have Apple stores here, but an apple support guy online told me to wipe my phone and i did it.

Still the GPS doesn´t work (waze, apple maps, google maps), and also having trouble getting wifi signal in places where my wife´s iphone 5 gets good wifi connection.

I can´t live without GPS, i use it all the time.

Apple needs to fix this.

Maybe download IOS 9.3 beta could be an option to solve this??

Adding to this, I have had same issue for months now. It started after 2 incidents that I can think of. Changing cell provider (hence changing sim) and upgrading to 9.2

Remedies tried so far include wiping the phone suggested by Apple store. They did a hardware diagnostic which showed no issue with H/W. Everything worked fine after reset but as soon as started installing some apps, issue returned suggesting a software issue. However, since I am out of warranty and nothing seems to be fixing the issue, only options left seem to be sell it off and get a new one.

Unfortunately, I'd never consider non-Apple so suggestions to use unsung phones etc are invalid for me.

I went back to the apple store after wiping my phone completely. They replaced my phone as they stated it was a hardware issue. However, when they ran the diagnostic test, no hardware issue was present. I did take screenshots of all the times I was trying to use my GPS but it was either stuck locating me (Apple Maps) or had me in different areas than where I actually was. Maybe that helped convince them? I was under warranty still, so I paid no fee. GPS works great!!

Mine is not working either. Tried hard reset, turning the phone on/off, toggling location settings. Nothing is working! I hate that I was repeatedly hassled to update and now the update seems to have permanently damaged location settings.

I am also finding that my phone is having a harder time picking up internet at any distance -- this could be my internet connection, but is anyone else having the same problem?

So frustrating! I need my maps in order to navigate/survive.
