Beats studio wireless keeps disconnecting

I got the beats studio wireless 2.0 for Christmas and so once I listen to music on my iPhone 6 with Bluetooth on and when I want to change a song, it sudden diconnects every time. It also just doesn't happen on the music app, even when I watch videos like on YouTub. So I want to know if there is anyway to fix this issue so I don't keep turning the headphones on and off. Plus I have run iOS 9.2

Hello Jason !

Yes it's really weird such a response from Apple ! Yesterday I even reset my beats ! And it still don't work sadly...

I saw a YouTube video today, a new beta from 9.3 just came out, and the youtuber said that the official release of 9.3 is gong to be in the next few weeks..

Right now I don't wanna update to the beta just to have my headphones fixed.

You're right about 9.2 ! It was a kinda great update, but it implemented sooo many bugs with it..

Hope 9.3 will fix other bugs too.. (And I also hope that iOS 10 will not bring other bugs haha)

The other thing I hope is that the 2.something update will come out for EVERY beats and not just some of them...

Thanks again Jason !

Regards

- Adrien

I'm having the exact same issue Jason. I have Beats Studio wireless, purchased in 2014. Updater says the firmware is up to date (not sure what version I'm on, but it says firmware is up to date). Don't know how to check what version I'm on.

I have iPhone 6S Plus on 9.2.1 and nearly every time I change tracks or change the volume, the Beats disconnect. Only option is to turn off the Beats and turn on again. If I don't change the track or volume and just let it play, Beats will stay connected. Used to work fine on my previous iPhone with older iOS. So it must be a 9.2 issue.

I have seen a lot of people say that this has been resolved by a firmware update, but like you, my Beats are already up to date on the firmware (apparently!).

Would love to get this resolved, as it's pointless having wireless headphones that keep losing connection.

Please let me know if a solution is found.

Thanks mate,

Abs

*Edit* Just seen your comment about 9.3 Beta, so will give that a try and report back with the outcome...

Keep fighting the good fight!

Hi Abs,

yeah it is a royal pain in the a** you will have firmware 1.1.12 on tie beats, you can easily cinfirm this by opening the uodater app on your computer, when click to update it it opens the web browser and checks for updates, however if you open the uodater app you installed originally (should be running in the system tray, or you can open it in your programs list) it will show the current version in there, but I'm pretty sure since your having the same issue as many other are then you are running 1.1.12.

9.3 beta holds the cure for the issue, I have been running it for many weeks now and not one single drop since I updated, so I'm pretty confident it will sort your issue out, do not fear either the 9.3 beta is in version 3 now which is the final version before it final release and doesnt have any bugs I have encountered yet and seems pretty stable, the final release should be some time mid next month (March) and your phone will automatically pull the official release when it's available.

at least with the 9.3 beta you will be able to actuallt use your headset as they should be used, I think apple have been quite bad with handling this issue, I still haven't had an update since my last post when I lasted them for an update. but at least we have a solution now, although I would still like to see an update for the beats headset itself so we know they are still suporting our very expensive product.

cheers,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

I'm in the process of downloading and trying to install the 9.3 beta. I have downloaded the profile and restarted the phone. Now when I go into software update on the phone, I see it lists the 9.3 beta there but only has a greyed out "Update Requested..." message. I can't install it yet. Do you know how long it takes before the Install button becomes available?

Thanks,

Abdul

Hi Abs,

yeah this usually happens when there is a high volume of downloads already in place on the servers, it shouod be around 10 mins and it shouod begin, however I usually find if you ensure your phone is connected to wifi and then hold the power and home button in until the phone goes off and the apple logo appears, let go and let it boot up and then try going to settings and check for update again and his usually forces it to restart and start the process.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Jason

Hi Abs,

You are very welcome, i'm pretty comfident it will sort it for you, it was an issue on all my apple devices running 9.2/9.2.1 until I updated them all, it sorted it out on my iPhone and then it still remained an issue on my iPad until I updated my Ipad on 9.3 it cured it on that too, also my wife's beats and iPhone and iPad had the same issue and all have now been fixed with 9.3. ;-)

speak soon,

Jason.

Thanks for very useful information, Jason. I had the same issue originally, but luckily I was able to upgrade.

I have another issue though, interesting to know if this works for others: my iPhone and the headset won't reconnect (repair) automatically when having been out of reach. I have to turn the headset off and back on again, then the repairing happens automatically. A bit annoying as I use it at work for phone calls and such, but don't bring the headset to meetings.

I have done some search of this problem, but not managed to come by any similar described issues. Can I ask if you have had this issue, or does repairing work well for you?

Hey everyone,

I ready every single response to this threat as I have been having this issue since for a little over a month now and it has been driving me INSANE. I'll be in the middle of the run and my headphones will randomly disconnect. Nothing will ruin a run quicker than that! I've only had my beats headphones for about 3 months now and absolutely loved them.. until this started happening.

Jason, thank you SO much for all your updates! I was giving up hope that the problem would ever be fixed until you. When you wrote about the 9.3 beta I was skeptical because I always wait to update my phone to see if anyone ever has issues with the new updates but since you've tested it out I'll have to give it a go. Hopefully this can fix it for good!

I really encourage everyone to keep updating this forum for anyone else who is having issues because clearly, a LOT of people are having issues.

Curious how many of you are experiencing this issue while connected to you Apple Watch? I too have Beats Studio Wireless that recently started disconnecting when skipping songs in Apple Music. Beats won't update past 1.1.12 on updater, running iOS 9.2.1 on an iPhone 6, always connected to my Apple Watch. Just tried disconnecting my watch from the Bluetooth, it *seems* to have fixed the issue. Thinking it may be related to both devices shariring Bluetooth now.

Same problem here... iOS 9.2.1 and new Beats Studio Wireless. Claims to have version 2.8.1 as firmware on the headphones too.

I bought a pair in November, everything was fine for a few weeks and then the bluetooth started dropping out when skipping songs. I exchanged them for a new pair, worked fine for a few weeks and then one day I just couldn't connect to bluetooth at all.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having wireless headphones when the key feature doesn't work....$400 too......very irritating! I thought I was losing my marbles not being able to fix it but more and more I'm starting to think it's Apple's retardation and not me....this iOS 9.3 better fix it or there'll be some angry conversations had at the Apple store!!!
