Hello,
I need to import a png into Photos in order to use it with OmniGraffle on an iPad.
When you import a png into Photos, for some reason, Apple replaces its transparent background with a white background.
Is this a bug? Has anyone found a workaround?

How are you importing the png? Have you tried putting the image into dropbox.com. You may be able to export the png directly from dropbox to Omnigraffle.

That's a great idea, however I don't think Dropbox is supported by this specific use case. There might be a longer work-around through the app that I'm not seeing. I'm surprised Photos doesn't support pngs or gifs...

Is photos just playing transparent files incorrectly or does it modify the file to be nontransparent?

Export the unmodified original and check - I believe it just displays it without the transparency
