Nikon Capture NX2 clean install on El Capitan

Please can any one help me find a simple workaround for installing Nikon Capture NX2 on a new mac running El Capitan?

Users who have Nikon Capture NX2 already installed on their computer before upgrading to El Capitan find the app still works.

Is it possible to use disk utility in some way to transfer the app directly from an older mac running Mavericks (that Nikon Capture NX2 works on) to a USB and then load the application on to the new mac running El Capitan to bypass the installation 'hanging' up and or bypass the SIP that maybe causing the installation to fail?

Tried this but still hangs up at final point of install ...

Load Nikon Capture NX-2 on Mac OS 10.11.2
• Mount the Capture NX-2 installation disk image (.dmg) file.
• Launch the Terminal application (located in Applications / Utilities).
• Copy the following line, paste it into the Terminal window, then press the enter key.
cd /Volumes/Capture\ NX\ 2\ Setup/
• Copy the following line, paste it into the Terminal window, then press the enter key.
cp -R .Capture\ NX\ Setup.pkg ~/desktop/Capture\ NX\ Setup.pkg
• Terminal placed a "Capture NX Setup.pkg" file on desktop.

Quit Terminal.
• Control click on the Capture NX Setup.pkg file and choose "Show Package Contents".
• Navigate to the Contents / Resources folder and delete the 2 items called "InstallationCheck" and "InstallationCheck.applescript".
• Return to the "Capture NX Setup.pkg" file and double click it to begin installing NX-2 as usual.

Also tried copying working app folder and library app support folder and dropping in to correct place - app opens but will not run due to not recognizing legitimate Nikon product key.

Many Thanks!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), null

Depends on whether you want speed or quality. The best choice for Nikon raw files is neither. Capture One V10 is the best. They didn't rverse engineer the LUT's like Adobe did. They took what Nikon offered them. Try it.

Google now owns all of the technology in NX-2. Unfortunately there will be no updates or changes going forward. Hence my encouraging you to switch to Capture One. The Color Editor tool while it still cant compare with the "control point" technology of NX2 is definitely superior to the color editing in LR or PS.

Nikon's naming leaves much to be desired.

Capture NX 2 has been replaced by Capture NX-D.

View NX 2 has been replaced by View NX-i.

Nikon has posted an El Capitan compatibility chart here. The older Capture NX 2 and View NX 2 titles will work in El Capitan by following the steps I outlined above to get it on the system. But as the chart shows, they will receive no further updates.

Hello Francesco,

Try Yosemite Nikon Capture NX 2 installer download - select the correct installer for region on top right of of page e.g this is the European installer

http://nikonimglib.com/cnx2/index_en_eur.html#os-macintosh

Mac - OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

Product Name - Capture NX 2™

Version- 2.4.7

File Name-S-CNX2__-020407MF-EUREN-ALL___.dmg

If Nikon get enough requests sent to their product department they may do a compatible upgrade for El Capitan as they did for Yosemite .
