Maximum iMovie file size?

is there a maximum size for an iMovie file? i'm trying to put all my old video in one file then divide it up but it's getting pretty big.

I'm not sure what you mean either.

iMovie's native codec (=format) is DV. DV is 13GB per hour. iMovie's file size limit is 2GB, which is a bit more than 9 minutes.

As for project size, it can be as large as your hard drive allows, but a practical limit is 500 clips and/or 4 hours of video.

If you mean what is the maximum PROJECT size, there is not really a limit but instead you are limited by available drive space. That said, of course if your project gets huge you will start bogging down your computer as it tried to keep track of everything. But other than that, you can keep adding footage to your project as much as you like.
