Jog shuttle shortcuts?

I'm interested in assigning shortcuts to the Contour Shuttle Pro jog & shuttle buttons. Are there hidden hot keys in QuickTime Player for controlling jog, shuttle or playback speed?

G4, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Not that I know of...

VLC will let you control the speed of the video with key commands...probably not what you want to do.

Thanks for the tip, but I need to figure out QuickTime. I cannot understand why Apple is offering such superb playback control capabilities, with no shortcuts for seamless operation and integration with third party controllers.

You can't even jump ahead of back more than one frame with the keyboard so you are right there is room for a bit faster navigation.

It's not what you're looking for...

But you CAN tell the controller software to send keystrokes at different rates. So you can kind of simulate it with the knob by using arrow keys at various rates. It's not "jkl" controls by any means, but it's better than nothing.

Hmmm...QuickTime does allow you to programatically set the playback rate...how about an AppleScript that changes the playback rate of the foreground movie, triggered by a hotkey, or by the controller?

Yes, I can tell the controller to send keystrokes at different rates but I get no sound and this is crucial if you want to cue on a specific point. I'll try AppleScript, maybe I'll make some progress. Thanks.
