I have been trying several ways to down load the videos from my Canon MVX35i, today no Joy.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to do it? or is the Camera Obsolete?.

Page 91 of the Instruction Manual for your camera lists only one way -- using a IEEE1394 (Firewire - not USB) cable.
With a working connection, iMovie's Help will give you specific information on how to download (import) video into iMovie for editing and sharing.
If you are still having trouble although you have previously successfully downloaded video from this camera to this Mac, check for possible damage to your Firewire cable (and the adapter if needed to connect to your Mac.) Consider all troubleshooting suggestions included on your Manual's page 91.
If all above fails, your camera may require professional service.

Canon-Europe's Canon MVX35i Product Support page shows that the camera is supported in Mac OS X Operating Systems through 10.10 (Yosemite.) With the possible exception of your camera's special Wi-Fi functions, if any, your MVX35i should also work with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan.) If necessary, you can contact Canon to verify the latest Mac support info.

(1) If your MBP has a Thunderbolt port but no Firewire, you will need to get a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter (unless you alreay have one.)
(2) If you do not already have a Firewire cable, you need to get one. Firewire cable ends come in several sizes for different applications.
Your camera seems to have a 4pin Firewire port. Older Macs have 6pin Firewire 400 ports. Newer Firewire equipped Macs require 9pin Firewire 800 connectors. The Thunderbolt to Firewire adapters I have seen also require 9pin Firewire 800 connectors.
The cable you use will need to be able to connect your camera to your Mac. Additional adapters may be required depending on which Firewire cables you have or get.
(3) IF :
- you get (or already have) a Firewire cable for your camera, and
- you need to use the cable you get (or already have) with the Thunderbolt adapters, and
- the cable you get (or already have) does not have connectors matching the pins necessary for connection,
THEN: you need to get Firewire adapters that will complete the connection.
(4) Cables and connectors are available from a variety of on-line sources.
(5) If you are not certain of exactly what you need, take both your camera and your MBP with you and shop locally.

Thanks EZ Jim, I have ordered the Thunderbolt to Firewire from Apple and a Firewire from the Web, to link from the camera to the Adapter.
I'll let you know how I go on when they arrive, hopefully this week.
