MacDailyNews Popup for DriveCleaner???

The last couple of days (and a couple of times in the past), every time I open the MacDailyNews.com page, a popup window appears advertising the services of something called drivecleaner.com. Clicking cancel or OK sends Safari to a site called drivecleaner.com, but the only thing that seems to be happening is a complete lockup of Safari. I have to force-quit Safari in order to regain control.

I'd ask the MacDailyNews folks about this, but I don't dare visit the site long enough to track down an e-mail address much less post a form reply. The popup doesn't appear immediately upon entering the site, but soon thereafter.

Anyone else have this problem with this site? Any ideas what it might be and how to eliminate the problem? I've tried deleting all cookies, resetting cache, etc., in Safari, but nothing seems to work. Too bad, because MacDailyNews is a useful site for Mac news. I'd like to be able to visit it again in the future.

So everytime i am on internet but not regularly, i have this very annoying popup : drive cleaner.

I have Tiger(MBP) and its last update and i am using FF2 with popup funcion activated.

How can i remove this malware / spyware ? I looked for a solution in google but it's only for windows users ...

Also : when the drive cleaner popup occurs, the firefox window is reduced to the size of the popup and what i can do is only loose my firefox session ... so please help me !

Thanks a lot,

All I can say is make sure you have the latest updates from Apple, such as the security update that was released recently (which is what fixed the problem for those of us using Safari).

But since you are using Firefox and not Safari, you should also make sure you have the latest Firefox version, and if you do and are still having the problem, try going to the Firefox forums and ask for help there.
