how to remove mac adware cleaner pop up window

So is "Mac Adware " fake????

There is Mac adware, but popup windows telling you to download something are fake notices.

Thank you for this post that pop-up was starting to drive me crazy I couldn't get it to delete from my apps.

I have been struggling with the ''Mac adware cleaner'' for the last 6 month.

I think Apple should help us to remove the software.

Personally I bought the most expensive version of iMac as I assumed Imac virus free and yet have been bombarded by the virus.

Trash – Empty When File is Locked or in Use

Try holding down the option/alt key while trying to delete the Trash. If that doesn’t work, here is some more information.

Thanks! This "Mac cleaner" is a pain. I also found more files pertaining to Advanced Mac Cleaner in these locations:

~/Library/Cookies

~/Library/Mac Adware Cleaner

~/Library/Preferences

com.PCvark.Advanced-Mac-Cleaner.plist

Best just to go to the Library folder and do a spotlight search for "PCvark" "Cleaner" or "Advanced"

Just got rid of Mac Adware Cleaner pop up by following your advice/direction. Or at least I have so far. Thought you'd like to know going to Launch Agents still works after almost a year. I think I installed it through a download of Adobe Reader pop up, but not sure. Thanks for your help!

I've had this same problem for ~18 months right after I downloaded Adobe Flash Player (a recent version 18 months ago) and I've deleted the obvious files, multiple times. It could be a coincidence if the code related to the ad was downloaded unbeknownst to me, via another update, etc. Non of the download/update dates matched. I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player maybe six months ago, then downloaded the most recent free version directly from Adobe. Within a couple weeks the pop up ads were back. I deleted any obvious files again several times, but a different looking ad just popped up today and is similar to previous versions of the pop up, so I knew what it was. And I can't find the files anywhere to delete them.

Another contributor mentioned downloading something Adobe-related. Maybe that's the root?

Tomorrow after a back up, I will let you know which of the suggestions in this string still work as of today.

The files mentioned were there as well as many other folders/files under the library general area (look around and open all dropdowns). Here are some I found as of 11/28/16:

I believe you found these files in applications. I had other files which I moved to trash.

DannyAub, if you are replying to me you are correct. Some of the folders were found under Applications/. Apologies for the oversight and thanks for letting all know.
