Photo Project Book save as pdf incomplete

Hi,

Recently, I make project book in Photo with 20 pages, when I save book as PDF, it looks like the exporting process is incomplete. The result pdf file only save 8 pages. It happened to all my project book.

Anyone experience as me, and any solution for it? I didn't realise when it happen until update to OSX 10.11.2.

the edited photo file can be edited and revert to original. when this original photo inserted in book, the warning sign has gone.

That's telling us the library is damaged as the edits are not being recognized correctly. Try Try repairing the library according to the instructions in this Apple document: Repair Your Library.

Warning: If you use iCloud Photo Library with Photos, this action will cause Photos to upload all your pictures again (from Fix missing or incorrect thumbnails in Photos - Apple Support).

Then edit some photos, put them in a book and create a PDF of the book to see if the same problem occurs.

Hi Old Toad,

Have done repair the library, as your advise, but the warning sign still 'there'... The exporting 'save as pdf' always stop at page with warning photo image.

When I removed and I re-edit the warning photo image, the photo image has no 'warning' sign anymore. Then the exporting process is complete.

So I guess, I need to re sorting my project books and re-edit the warned photo one by one.

Any better advises?

Hi,

I have been experiencing a similar problem.

We've created numerous photobooks over the years in iPhotos and Photos. Unfortunately, with Photos, there is no one button click to create slideshows so based on advice on this forum, we have been using print, save as pdf, converting the pdf's to jpg's using Automator, importing those jpg's back into Photos and then creeating a slideshow. It worked for the first slideshow (most recent project) but when I started going back to past Photos projects to repeat the process, when I print to pdf, i keep getting one or more (up to nearly 10) missing pages in the pdf. The pages are still missing if I exit Photos and try again. I've also tried the preview print mentioned in this thread - and the result is even worse, after 5 or 6 attempts, each time, I only get a pdf of the cover page without the picture, just text.

Can anyone guess what the problem is? It is such a pleasure to view photobooks as slideshows, especially when sharing with friends and family. While hugely inconvenient, the workaround was an adequate compromise until the pdf conversion started failing. I've tried this with 4-5 past projects now, and have not been able to produce a 100% intact pdf with any of them.

Any help most gratefully received!

Hi,

Hi Old Toad,

Thanks for your advises. Firstly, I thought it was the library, but I have updated all before.

Last night, I made the new project book, then I found that some of my photos file got warning "missing or corrupt" - especially the edited photo (edited by iphoto/photos). I chose not putting the warned photos in project book, then I save it as pdf... the process is completed 🙂.

I guessed the main problem is in warned photos.

But sadly, in all my previous project books, there are a lot of edited photos... Still incomplete exporting... Any solutions? Should I re-edit all photos (a year project 😟)... Or is it from Photos app error bugs?

Thks n rgds,

PS: the edited photo file can be edited and revert to original. when this original photo inserted in book, the warning sign has gone.

Hi Old Toad,

Thanks.

I guess the problem is in edited photo files, the original one is fine. When I revert to original photo, and put it back to project book, the warning sign gone. The edited photos were from iphoto or previous photo version (i didn't notice it).

Yes, I'm re arranging the project book and re editing the photo image. This is the best solution.
