iPhone Spain locked to Vodafone

Hello,

I have bought iPhone 6S about two months ago in Barcelona Apple Store. Retail worker gave a sim card to iPhone and is now locked to Vodafone and isn't possible to insert any other sim card. I haven't requested any sim card, she just took it and smiled... So I can't get it why my iPhone is now locked, I haven't signed any agreement with Vodafone, just anything. Today I have restored iPhone added sim card and now I can't even activate iPhone. So all I can you is just power on and then choose language, after inserting the sim card I can only see that sim card invalid and it's not possible to active iPhone. Hope that you can help me.

Thanks,

Martin

Well, from what you have said, it doesn't seem like you asked for an unlocked phone. Not sure why a worker would have just provided you with a Vodafone SIM, but what have you been doing for the past 2 months? You can check your purchase receipt, and stop back at the Apple Store to have them check to see if you purchased a locked device, but there isn't much you can do right now unless you contact Vodafone to ask for an unlock.

No I haven't I didn't know that they provide unlocked/locked iPhone. I haven't needed calls, so I have just used it as it was. I have no idea what to do next. I have tried to call Spanish Vodafone, but everything is in Spanish, so I can't really understand. I have tried to search for english customer support and nothing pop up. Any ideas? By the way thanks for answer.

I would not know anything. Since you purchased in Spain, are you using it there, or are you located somewhere else? I'm guessing then that you have no command of Spanish language? You probably need to stop in the Apple store and see if you can get some English assistance to figure this out. So you have been using this device for 2 months, just not making phone calls?

So everything started when my iPhone 5 was stolen in Barcelona. The next day I bought a new one and traveled to Canary Islands that day. I have a basics of Spanish, but I can't have a conversation. I'm located in Czech Republic where we have no Apple Store. Yes, I haven't called from a sim card, I haven't had one. The retail worked took it out after unlocking it. I have used Skype for calls. Thanks

Okay, now it starts to come out. You purchased a phone outside of a country you intended to use it in. The clerk provided you with a SIM to activate the phone. You didn't say they took the SIM back. If you didn't ask for an unlocked device, no telling what you may have gotten. You can try contacting Apple by phone to see if that device is locked to a carrier. If it is, you are going to have to figure out how to contact that carrier to see if you can get the phone unlocked, as it seems to be locked to a carrier. When you talk to Apple, you can explain what happened with the activation to see if you can get some assistance with it. Otherwise, I don't see a way out of this mess.

So I had a call with Apple, they told me that iPhone is locked to carrier. I have called to Spanish Vodafone and they don't speak English. I can see fault in Apple, they have locked my phone to a carrier without telling. How the they can do that, is it normal? I don't think so. I have no idea what to do next, so basically I can leave my iPhone a do nothing?

Apple does not lock, or unlock phones. That is done by the carrier. You purchased a locked device. You will need to try and work with someone that can understand Spanish to get your issue worked out with the carrier. Once you contact them, they can advise you of the requirements for getting the device unlocked. I'm guessing that there was a language barrier the day you made your purchase as well, leading to the problem. Apple cannot unlock your phone, so dealing with them is not going to help.
