IMHO, a refurb from Apple is likely a better bet than a new one from Apple has Apple techs have had their hands on it for the quality control where new are boxed in China

Even BestBuy, with its "special sales" does not undercut Apple's "new" prices enough to make it cheaper than an official Apple refurbished.

"If it looks too good to be true, it probably is". I would buy an Apple refurbished if I wanted to save money, or first-run model if I did not trust Apple's refurbish process. But for the record I am typing on a 4-year-old 2011 refurbished MBP ... no issues to note and Apple never questioned its origins as they *just might* from a vendor undercutting Apple prices too much.

It would surprise me greatly if Apple would allow online sales that directly compete with its own online efforts - UNLESS the online sales were from an AAR that did brick & mortar like BestBuy or Guitar Center

I think you are making a wise choice. I have plans to purchase a MBPro in the near future. I have been using apple products for over 25 years. My plan is for a refurb from Apple - maybe even one exactly like you are looking at.

For the record, and not to complain about Apple, but ...

I too wish Apple had special sales now and again. But Apple Genius Bars treat me well and provide free estimates. They also just reopened a program to replace logic boards for free ($500-ish) for 2011-series systems like mine where a GPU provided to them was faulty from birth.

I pay the price because Apple backs that price with service.

Honestly i had the same fear buying my iPhone from them, i waited couple of days before i could finally make the decision. I am glad i got my order as described exactly 2 days after purchase. No problems with my order.

its wise that u took time to ask about them before investing...i did the same too. i think they are real cos i got my order new and sealed in box
