Does CS5.5 Adobe Web Premium work on OS X El Capitan?

Hello,

Does CS5.5 Adobe Web Premium (including Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5, Photoshop CS5.1 and many others) work on OS X El Capitan?

Adobe tells me it will not and therefore I will not upgrade to El Capitan; however, this program was only bought from Adobe not four years ago (Feb 2012) and it seems to works fine on Yosemite, with the attached config, below:

Why would moving to El Capitan be such a leap that it would stop working, because aren't Apple updates supposed to be like a "background thing" nowadays that they don't turn your world upside down as they move forward from iteration to iteration?

Are Adobe saying this to force people into the paid-only ongoing subscription model because all the press seems to say that the Yosemite to El Capitan leap is kind of a non-event.

Would love to hear some unbiased truth?

Thank you kindly.

it works for some, but not all, and depending on your workflow those who do get it to work can experience issues later in the pipeline. CS5 is not supported by either Apple or Adobe and because it's several years old do not expect either company to remedy any issues you come across.

Backup your drive with time machine and have all installers and registration keys available in the event you need them.

• A clean install to 10.11 over an upgrade is preferable as it will remove any possible conflicting or incompatible software outside of the OS.

• A clean install of CS 5 from the original media.

• Install Mac Java (not the Sun/Oracle one for web stuff, you need the Apple version)

Download Java for OS X 2015-001

• Update to the latest version of CS5 through Photoshop while Adobe still has the updates live in the event they take them down.

Thanks very much for this! I was particularly happy that you told me about the Java download so that I could be prepared for that. I was, and had it downloaded, so after I upgraded to El Capitan it was there and I ran it fine, and can use my Dreamweaver and Photoshop from CS 5.5. I haven't tried a lot of the functions, but I tried opening files and the basic stuff that I figure if I can do that, 99% of the program will work as well. Many thanks!
