Hey Loner T,

I followed your instructions and they worked perfectly! Although...and this may just be my perception, my Windows seems to run slower than it did before...is that possible? Or am I imagining it?

Anyway, real question:

Say I wanted to undo everything I did by following your steps and get everything back to the original setup - how would I do that?

Would I run your steps the same way but change it back to 2 3 4 instead of 3 4 5 (at the appropriate step - don't remember which one it was)? Or would simply removing my Windows partition fix it?

I can't wipe my mac clean and reinstall everything, but I'd be willing to re-install Windows. Is that possible? Or would only a complete system wipe fix it?

Thanks!

You can absorb the extra partition space into Bootcamp if you convert the extra partition to Free Space and use this link and GParted to move the NTFS header. At this point the MBR is ready to go back to the standard 2 3 4 and make Windows bootable.

If you want to re-install Windows, back up OS X to a Time Machine Backup, boot into Internet Recovery, erase you internal disk and restore from the TM Backup. This will give you OS X (and Recovery HD) back on the disk. If your MBR is a standard 2 3 4, you can use BC Assistant to remove Windows to avoid using the TM Backup method.

Loner T,

I have a problem that I think you can help me fix, but wasn't sure where to post it. Basically, I had to follow this guide to get Windows 10 Bootcamp to boot again because I got that same "no boot disc" error after trying to create another partition of 63GB titled "Other". Well, your solution fixed it, but I then booted into Windows to add the new partition I created to extend my bootcamp partition (using Mini Tool Partition Wizard). For some reason, though, I had to only extend the bootcamp partition using 62GB out of the 63GB because for some reason it was telling me I couldn't use it all due to some overlapping error. I booted back into OS X, and then I installed Paragon NTFS for Mac that came with this new Seagate 2TB external hard drive that I got, and restarted the computer (without doing anything with Paragon...I didn't even erase or partition anything with my external hard drive). Before the reboot though, I think I saw that my Bootcamp partition was still there, but after the reboot I opened Disk Utility and my bootcamp partition is missing. I see the new partition that I made earlier (63GB), though, but it shows empty. If I restart my Macbook while holding Option key, my Windows partition is still there and bootable. But for some reason bootcamp is not in Disc Utility or in startup disks...any idea how to fix this?

Can I suggest starting a new discussion and posting the output of

diskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

On supported Macs, Windows 10 is usually installed using EFI, not MBR. If you were able to get it back using a MBR, then Paragon NTFS will not allow Apple NTFS driver to see the partition, hence it will not mount or show up in Startup Disk.

I suggest you avoid Mini Partition Tool like the plague, because current versions do not understand a Hybrid MBR, which causes havoc.

W10 may not even boot, if the Mac is 2013 or later model, or the BCD will be corrupted.
