Photos in shared album are missing parts of the image

Hello,

I discovered a strange bug when using photos in a shared album:

Some photos are incomplete, i.e. the bottom part of the photos is missing and just displays as white area. The size of this varies, sometimes it's just a small bar, in other cases literally 80% of the image are just white.

I assume that there is some problem during the size reduction before uploading as the photos show up incomplete in all places:

  • The local view of the shared album
  • In the shared album on my iPhone
  • Others invited to the shared album
  • as well as on the web gallery

Has anyone experienced the same behaviour and/or knows how to fix this?

Best Regards

I have had this problem for a few months... ever since updating to OS X Photos. I take pictures on my Canon DSLR --> edit them in Lightroom --> then import jpegs into OSX Photos. All images are stored in my icloud correctly with no problems. I can view all the images from my iphone, ipad, imac, and Mac Book Pro.

The issue is when I try to SHARE the images with my family via a shared photostream. It is completely random what photos show up half blank or nothing at all. I feel like this happens more often when I try to share a bunch of photos at once. If I only try to share 1 image at a time, there is usually not an issue... I think Apple tries to upload the images and it gets over-whelmed and just skips to the next image? (I am uploading my images via WiFi - not 4G - and I have the FASTEST internet connection thru Cox Cable).

In my opinion, photos OSX is made for people to just take a few lower quality pics on their iphone and then share those. It cannot handle the higher quality images and multiple pictures at the same time from a DSLR. I wish Apple would fix this bug and just take the time to completely upload the whole image before skipping to the next one.

Hi,

this does not seem to be a problem with photostreams, as I - and some others, see the discussions linked in this thread - also experience this problem when exporting to disk.

I think it does not occur for single image export, as it occurs only for about 0.5-1% of the exported images. And I don't have the patience for trying 100, 200 single exports just to see if the problem is caused by batch processing.

I'm pretty sure, it's just an annoying bug in the exporter that occurs too infrequent to be detected before release and to be fixed with high priority.

I think I'll just wait for 10.11.3 and try again.

I have this problem that only a part of a photo exports (line across the top). I exported the same photo 3 times and got different amounts of it and not incremental.

This error is clearly a random bug, as all the data seems to be available

Exports to Slide shows work fine.

The problem exist only with JPEG exports, so rather use TIFF to export photos.

See examples below.
