Itunes splits albums in Artist sort mode

Hello.

I've recently updated to Itunes 12 and discovered that when I add a new album to the library it very often gets split up into individual albums for each track when viewed in Artist sort. In Album sort it seems fine, but not always. For example, a 12 track album by Robery Schumann, when viewed in Artist sort, has 12 different Robert Schumann's listed, each with one f=track from the album

I've reformatted all the album info, adding Album artist ino and checking how the info listed under Sorting in defined, but to no avail.

I'm using an older Imac (2008ish) and my library is stored on an external HD, for what it's worth.

Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.

I get this all the time. There is a work around. You might have to try it in a different order.

Right Click one of the Tacks and Get info. Copy the Artist name from a track and paste it to the track that has split.

User uploaded file

Then Drag the track from iTunes to the desktop . You then can delete it from your iTunes library. Then goto the artist, and then add the track to the iTunes library from your desktop File » Add to Library ... it should then go to the artist.

This is a recurring issue with iTunes. It is in the embedded meta data of certain track ... If you highlight an artists name, you might see that there is a space after the name. Space is not invisible to iTunes, it sees it as a charter.

Also, try clearing the artist name completely from the track info and you might see that iTunes still recognises the artist, even though it is blank - that's the embedded data..
