how to transfer iphoto albums to photos mac to mac

I transferred my files from a 2006 imac to a 2011 imac using migration assistant but none of my albums were transferred as albums. The photos were transferred but only in one large file which I now have to search and remake all of the albums. Also none of my firefox bookmarks were transferred. Anyone know what went wrong? The old imac has OS 10.6.8 and the newer one has Yosemite.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

The second "pictures" icon does not show as you can see in the attachment that I sent

The Photos icon in the Media section of the sidebar will only show in a file chooser, when you use the media browser from an application or the "File > Open " dialog in an application. Your first screenshot is showing it.

If the Photos library does not show, check the Preferences in Photos. The option "Use as Syystem Phottos library" should be grayed out.

Yes, when I use the "Open" file with Photos app the "Photos" icon does come up but only a few photo video files are listed.

Then the Photos Library you are currently using is not your converted iPhoto Library, but a different library.

Search for all photo libraries:

Open a Finder window and type "photo" into the search field.

From the drop down menu select "Kind: Photos Library"

Can you find a different library this way?

If not, repeat with "Kind is Photo Library" or "Migrated Photo Library".
