The key (page down) is always pressed by itself

Hi guys! I've been a mac user for a while my older macbook a white macbook mid 2007 running on 10.6.8 is now my father's computer. He only uses it for browsing and very very basic stuff.

A couple of days ago i realized the key (arrow down) is always pressed (kind of stuck) without touching it. I took the key out and it was perfect and clean, it seems like the problem its not the key itself. Momentary i could "unpress" the key with the keyboard viewer but in a couple of seconds it gets back to its initial "pressed" position.

So, i can't make a SMC or PRAM reset because the pressed key does not allow me to make the right combination. I can't reinstall OS X because the CD is missing.

Any advice on how to fix this crazy key? is there any other way to restore PRAM? Can i switch off the built in keyboard and use a usb keyboard?

There's a lot of questions...i hope you guys can help me.

Does it continue to scroll down? Have you tried an external keyboard? With that Macbook an SMC reset is done with it shut off and the battery and magsafe removed. Then you hold down the power button for 10 second. What happens if you put something in between the key and the body of the keyboard to keep it from being depressed? You had the key out. Did you check the little white cover that the key comes in contact with to see if it was flattened out?

It scrolls down every page all the time.

Yes, I tried an external keyboard and keeps scrolling down. From the viewer keyboard I can tell that the built in keyboard is still with the key pressed besides the repeating sound that makes when a key is being pressed.

I did a SMC reset and nothing seems to change. Thanks for the explanation.

When i took the key out, everything was in its place and nothing was flattened out, even when the key was out (both parts) the problem persists. 😟
