Burning Protected Audiobook to MP3

Hi,

so i bought an Audiobook for my Grand-Mother, since she can only listen to mp3 cd's i need to burn/convert it.

I thought it would be easy...

Now, i can't burn the audiobook from itunes, i received a "iTunes Store files cannot be burned to an MP3 CD."

I tried converting to file to MP3, received "could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats."

so i tried converting it to AAC, couldn't explain why i'd want that, but still, and received the exact same message as MP3.

maybe i'm just doing this wrong...

can i burn that audiobook to mp3 cds (while keeping the chapters, if possible, preferred...) ?

and how?

i'm on Yosemite 10.10.4

and my iTunes version is 12.2.1.16

i believe they aren't up to date, i usually don't update unless i need to,i don't care doing so if that could be the problem, but i tend to believe it isn't...

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Audiobooks from iTunes Store use DRM (copy protection) as required by the content producers. You cannot use the Create New Version command on items that have DRM that prevents it.

Now, i can't burn the audiobook from itunes, i received a "iTunes Store files cannot be burned to an MP3 CD."

MP3 CD? It may work if you select Audio CD as the Disc Format.

ok, so it works by selecting Audio CD
but it told i would be only able to burn 7 disc with protected content,

and even with those 7 disc, i wont have the full story...

ill be missing 4h or something

I think that message means you can only burn the exact SAME disc 7 times (part of the DRM that prevents uncontrolled duplication of protected content). Going by memory here; I haven't burned anything to disc in a long time...

I know regular music that was protected could be burned to an audio format CD. It did not permit you to convert to mp3 directly.

I don't know how it is with Audiobooks but the bottom line is the distributors do not want to make things easy that could be used for pirating media.

Ok, so i succeeded in burning the audiobook on and Audio CD,

lost all tracks and words are cut off from one CD to the next...

but thank you guys

ill be able to import it, and edit it and get it back in chapters,

it'll be a bit of a hassle but it'll be worth it so grandma has the perfect audiobook and no hassle for her.

An Audio CD is the same format that is used on commercial music CDs you buy at the store. MP3 CD is the one that may or may not play, depending on the CD player.
