How,do,I,export,24,bit,audio,from,FCP,X,with,El,Cap?
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)
Export,master,file,and,it's,24,bit.
Thanks Tom,
We played the master file on a KiPro play and the audio is not there. My engineers tell me that the file is in 16 bite audio and needs to be 24 bit audio. Why would FCP X export the file in 16 bit. I have been using FCP X since it was introduced and this hasn't happen till I updated to El Cap!
Ron
How exactly did you export? When I export a master file in ProRes it's 24-bit. It says so in the QT player and in MediaInfo and Media Inspector. Maybe you're exporting in a different way. Maybe you should talk to AJA if you have a problem with their hardware.
OK so QT player says the file is Linear PCM, 24 bite little-endian signed. What is "little-endian signed"?
Sorry that's Linear PCM, 24 bite little-endian signed integer, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)
It represents the byte order. Way beyond my computer expertise, but I'm sure a web search will find you all you want to know.
I opened the file in media encoder and it saw the file as 16 bit, after exporting it with 24 bit audio it ran fine on the KiPro. Any idea why media encoder saw it as 16 bits where QT and FCP X saw it in 24 bit.
NO idea. You still haven't said exactly how you exported.
From the FCP X timeline on the right click the big arrow button/ export file
Settings
Format: video and audio
video codec: appleProRes 422
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Audio file format: QT Movie (Linear PCM)
Open with: QT Player.app (Default)
Roles as: QT movie
Every I app I have shows this as 24-bit audio.
try adobe media encoder
I don't use Adobe products any more.
Does apple have a media encoder I could use?
Compressor.
Hey Tom,
Well Compressor doesn't seem to help. I thought maybe it had to do with the big-endian vs the little-endian. Compressor did change the audio 24 bite to little-endian from the big-endian that FCP X exported, but the audio still didn't work on the KiPro. Any guesses to why Media Encoder would work but Compressor doesn't? Thanks for your input.
Ron
