I think that the problem is photostream-agent. But I have no more iPhoto, and I don't find a com.apple.photostream-agent on my Mac

How I can remove this call from com.apple.pc.launchd ?

Thanks

I've solved this!

The problem is not with Spotlight, but with Launch Services. There are two steps to solving the problem:

  1. sudo mkdir /private/var/db/lsd
  2. sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fra mework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network

The first one creates the folder that the launch services daemon needs to store the database. That's why LaunchServices is getting an -10822 error, because it can't create the database, so it keeps resetting the connection. The second command tells launch services to kill the old database and create a new one from scratch. Voila!

Update: I ran EtreCheck and it reported the following:

Disk Information:

ST31000528AS disk0 : (1 TB) (Rotational)

EFI (disk0s1) <not mounted> : 210 MB

Macintosh HD (disk0s2) / : 880.00 GB (311.25 GB free) - 66 errors

Drive failure!

Recovery HD (disk0s3) <not mounted> [Recovery]: 650 MB

disk0s4 (disk0s4) <not mounted> : 99.86 GB

Now I'm really concerned about the hard drive! But I'm finding it difficult to understand what exactly this means as only one of the partitions is reporting a failure. Will a clean install of OS X resolve the issue? Or do I really need a new hard drive?

Linc....I also ran the script you mentioned in this post: mac extremely slow (randomly), memory full, CPU fine

It has been running for over 30 minutes now with only 2 steps complete. I will report back when it is done.

Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.xpchelper.cache

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)

from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open. Close it. If instead of the Info dialog, you get a notice that "the item can't be found," ask for further instructions.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

It's not clear to me that you actually have a problem. If you do have one, you would have to describe it in more detail. A brief lag in responsiveness once in a while is not abnormal. I suggest that you avoid reading the log unless something is really going wrong. You'll always find frightening messages in there, even when the computer is working perfectly.

Evening,

I am having nearly the same issue as the one described above, though my functional problem is an absurd amount of lagging. While typing this sentence, I've had two beach balls, one for 5 seconds, and the other for 7 seconds. Try to cmd-shift between two apps or open multiple tabs in Safari? Forget it. The time can increase to 10-15 seconds with each lag, while doing so multiple times within a minute. It's maddening! While this computer has certainly been getting a little slower as the years have gone by, this behavior is totally uncharacteristic and started within the last week. My first inclination was that my hard drive is going bad, but I've checked SMART status' in Disk Utility and everything appears to be okay. At some point in my search, it was suggested that I turn off Spotlight by dragging my entire volume into the "Privacy" list. This helped tremendously - I would say the lagging has been roughly cut in half, both in time and frequency. However, again, I'm still getting an uncharacteristic amount of lag when doing to simplest of things - like typing - multiple times per minute! Here is what the console is saying:

1/18/16 11:09:02.000 PM kernel[0]: disk0s2: I/O error.

1/18/16 11:09:02.838 PM systemstatsd[502]: assertion failed: 15C50: systemstatsd + 6747 [5BD3E614-1FAF-3820-8738-F2D7DE8F3FAE]: 0xa

1/18/16 11:08:03.462 PM xpcproxy[4440]: LaunchServices: received XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED trying to map database

1/18/16 11:08:03.462 PM xpcproxy[4440]: LaunchServices: Database mapping failed with result -10822, retrying

1/18/16 11:08:03.463 PM xpcproxy[4440]: LaunchServices: received XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED trying to map database

1/18/16 11:08:03.464 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.photostream-agent[4440]) LaunchServices returned a bundle URL that does not match with the LoginItem's known association.

1/18/16 11:08:03.465 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.photostream-agent) Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.

This is repeated over and over, 4001 times, within the last 68 minutes. The I/O error is what had me thinking the HD is going, though I don't know what to think anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Time Machine is running to an external drive (unmounting it does not appear to have any positive or negative effect).

Hi

I think, it is a different problem

You should open a new subject in this forum

You should to save immediatly all your personnal datas on external drive if it is not already done

TRy to repair your disk with disk utility. if possible dot it by booting from external drive with osx

If that doesn't work. Yon can try to do a clean install but I'm not optimist with your drive

i'm having the same issue as @jjtitan92. I have two functional issues: Safari hangs for a while and puts up a beachball almost any time I click on something. The other is the "Backup Failed: There isn't enough space on Time Machine" that is reported on multiple threads. I don't think this one is relevant, but what's happening with Safari may be. This only started happening a few days ago, long after I upgraded to El Capitan.

Hello jjtitan92,

There is a misconception that the "Repair Disk" function of "Disk Utility" will physically repair the disk. It does not. It will only repair the logical structure of the data on the disk, i.e. the filesystem. If the disk is physically failing, Disk Utility cannot help. Like the SMART utility, it can even be harmful by giving users a "verified" message and making them think that there is no problem with the disk.

For disk errors, use the "duck test". If it looks like a failed disk, sounds like a failed disk, and acts like a failed disk, then it probably is.
