Ok, I was able to boot into windows. The cursor was blinking on a black background for about 30 seconds and then it booted into windows. Any reason why it's taking so long to boot into windows ? I have an SSD
Does Windows Safe Mode without Networking also take the same time?
My bootcamp is brand new without any user files but out of 75 GB partition, only 20 GB is free. I am confused as to how could windows occupy so much space and how would I free up that space ?
Files derive sizes from RAM on your Mac, which are fairly large. Use https://windirstat.info/ to find where your space is gone.
Some questions that I had for future. I got into this mess because I tried creating a FAT partition that both mac and windows could read so that I can share files between both OS. What's the best way to share files between mac and windows with read/write capabilities ?
Can you use an external disk? Models after Late 2013 and W8.1 and higher can be installed using EFI Boot, which gives you greater flexibility.
What would be a way to backup both mac and windows so that I don't have to go through this again ? Does time machine backup my bootcamp ?
If you use Winclone, then the output of Winclone can be backed up by Time Machine. You should keep separate back ups for each OS, preferably on separate, physical disks.
