Why I can not ping dynamic IP address and How to set up Ftp server ?

Hello
I have a small network at home Mac and PC. Both machines are connected to the router and work correctly. I can browse internet, send mails..etc.

In these days I want to set up FTP server on one of the machines. (it doesn't matter which one).

I did set FTP server, gave it name. but main problem is that I can not ping my external dynamic Ip address. I called ISP and ask if they block connections, fortunately they don't. I don't know where the problem could be.

ModemRouter:
Zyxel 600series model(650H-33)
Software Version latest

WAN
IP address 195.218.20.65 (set to dynamic by ISP but doesn't change - ever)
netmask ( subnet ) 255.255.255.0

LAN
IP address 192.168.1.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
DHCP enabled

I tried to set port forwarding, but still I can not ping Ip address. Any suggestions?

mac book pro 2ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

User uploaded fileIt's probably the firewall being set to not respond to certain traffic from the WAN. Try accessing the administration of the modem from the LAN side and see how the modem is set up.

Additioally, some modem behave differently depending on which side, LAN or WAN, the traffic originates from.

I have a Mac mini set inside the DMZ with stealth mode set on and will behave the same with a ping sent to my modem's WAN address.

User uploaded fileIt's not really a matter of NAT although it does need to be working correctly. You can assume that it is if full internet access is working from within your LAN.

For instance, if you modem's WAN IP address is 12.345.678.9 then pinging that address from the WAN should make the modem respond to the ping, assuming it is set to respond to pings. If however your modem is set such that all ping traffic is forwarded to your MBP (with a LAN IP of 10.0.0.1 for instance) then assuming your MBP is set to respond to pings it should then respond.

How is your modem set? Is your MBP set as the default "server" and places inside the DMZ? Else, are you using virtual servers and using port forwarding? If yu use the former then pinging should work if your MBP responds to pings. Otherwise, you need to set up a port forward for ping traffic to your MBP which is not normally done. You need to do it.
