suggestd daemon is memory & cpu pig how do i clean it up?

The daemon, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreSuggestions.framework/Versions/A/Support/ suggestd is an absolute pig on my system. After a few weeks of usage, the memory footprint has grown to 1.3GB and it intermittently chews up 100% cpu usage on one of the processors.

Of course there is no man page on it, so only way i could figure out what it did was look at the binary, and based on what I learned this isn't anything I should muck with as so my services interact with it.

Below are the database files this service refers you as best as I can tell. Is there a mechanism to clean this up?

Hi Dave,

To be honest I don't understand this thread. My iMac running OSX 10.11.3 has been up for three days. suggestd is using 10.3MB, %CPU 0.0 CPU Time .92.

I've taken a look at suggestd periodically since the original post and it never seems to change. My feeling is, there is some incompatible third party application or kext that is causing the reports of CPU and Memory usage by suggestd. What I don't know.

I do hope those having an issue get it resolved.

Same issue here, my MacBook Pro is dying because suggestd is taking 2Go+ RAM

This exact same situation is happening to me with Sierra (10.12.6). Has anyone found a resolution to this issue yet??

That program isn't going to do the job due to the nature of the problem, but I did solve it and am posting what I remember I did as separate post below....
