It is normal that I see ripples/waves like lines on the lock screen "touch ID or enter passcode" "search" and when on the screen when I receive a text message?

I realized recently that there are some ripples/waves like forms on the screen of my iphone 6 plus on the lock screen (grayish background). From what I remember, there is no water damages to the phone. Does someone know what causes this? I have an image attached below. We can clearly see that some spots are brighter than others

Hi,

First of all, thank you for your reply!

I looked again and I think that you are right about the background peeking through for the darker and brighter parts of the screen. However, I am sure that the ripples/waves like lines are not part of the lock screen image. I tried with another more "uniform" background image and this time, I am getting very faint thick horizontal lines. It seems to only happen on lock screen, search, and when I receive a text message on lock screen.

It is odd that it only occurs in those three places. Have you tried to turn off reduce transparency?

Some other things to try:

  1. Hold the sleep/wake and home button until the Apple logo appears
  2. Reset settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Settings
  3. Restore to a recent backup
  4. If you don't have a recent backup or it doesn't help, backup all data and restore to factory settings

If switching background images and the above steps don't help, you could make a Genius Bar appointment for the phone's hardware to be evaluated.
