iMovie updated to 10.1.1 multiple times

I have the same issue with this iMovie update. I'm in the middle of the first "re-download". If that doesn't rid the App Store of the 'update' then I'm going to delete the App Store manifest and package download folder.

You can try it by typing the following in the Terminal app:

open $TMPDIR../C/

Then find and delete the folder named: com.apple.appstore

In theory, this should fix the problem.

1. Open a search window by pressing the key combination command-F in the Finder. Select This Mac as the search scope and search for the app(s) in question by name. Delete any outdated copies that you find.

2. If the search results seem to be inaccurate, rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.

Ok so repeated entries like you have are an indication that the download and install has not succeded.

To check go to About This Mac click System Report the Software and then Installations. If you do not

see the iMovie 10.1.1 update listed, it has not installed.

One thing you could try is this.

Above is the path to the folder that needs to be removed.

The folder is normally hidden, so you may not see it.

In Finder use the Go To Folder item under Go and type in /private/var/folders in the text box

and from there navigate to zz and then the folder zyxvp........ ending in 68, control-click and then Move To Trash, don't delete

you could also drag it to the desktop before for extra safety.

Restart the Mac and relaunch the App Store and see if you are able to download now. The folder and files within it are regenerated on Restart.

If you are happy you can then empty the Trash and delete the one on the desktop if you did that.

Its definitely not a problem with the mac. this is a long standing problem with the App Store where it can't maintain

its connection.

for example you can download some updates through the Apple Support Pages such as the Security Update.

it will download faster and it is less likely to disconnect. sadly the iMovie and Safari updates are not listed here.

so the question for Apple is why do the App Store servers time out whereas the Apple Support servers seem more robust.

Its a case of keep trying, trying and very trying.
