I have a new Ford with the Sync 3 system paired to my iPhone 6s. Bluetooth Phone Calls and Bluetooth Audio worked great until I updated to 9.2.1 yesterday. (Upgraded due to issue with companies MDM) Now when I try to make a phone call, the phone audio is choppy. If I switch the phone back to "phone" and not bluetooth, the audio is fine. Bluetooth music seems unaffected.

Delete the pairing from both the head unit and the phone and re-boot both, then re-pair them.

I've done this. I've also paired a phone that is still just on 9.2 and it works just fine.
Then contact your Ford dealer. You will probably need an update to the head unit to correct the problem, though Ford does not have a stellar track record with their Sync system...
Works with 9.2 - doesn't work with 9.2.1. This is an Apple issue, not a Ford issue.
Wrong. If they would have stuck to the guidelines, a minor iOS update wouldn't cause a problem, and if it were an Apple problem, it would be broken on more than just Ford's Sync systems. I've heard of no-one else with this kind of problem and have no problem on multiple vehicles with multiple phones running 9.2.1. Of course, none of them are Ford vehicles...

I have a Pioneer NEX Head Unit w/ Apple Carplay. After upgrading to 9.2.1, calls over bluetooth are now choppy. It's not just the talk, its the rings as well. When I plug the phone in through carplay, the phone quality is just fine. This is something that broke with 9.2.1. I am tempted to install the 9.3 beta to see if this helps the matter.
The ringing was choppy for me as well. It's a problem with either the CTP or HFP bluetooth profiles. This certainly seems to be isolated to 9.2.1. Hoping Apple reads these forums and can pass the info along to the engineers.

2011 Ford Mustang Sync, Iphone 6 Plus 9.2 worked fine. updated the other day to 9.2.1, Bluetooth phone calls no longer work. Please apple fix this.
Just updated too and this isn't just a Forb problem - my Fiat (is up to date) and it worked before the .1 update - audio works just telephone is choppy.
I upgraded my iPhone 6 from 9.2 to 9.2.1 and if my phone is on Silent and connected via Bluetooth all audio sources in my 2015 Toyota Camry are muted.
9.2.1 broke my bluetooth phone calls on Ford Sync in 2015 F250 too. Audio is choppy and unusable until I switch to phone or speaker. Really need my hands free back and don't care who's issue it is. Music streaming over bluetooth is fine.
This has happened to me as well. I also noticed my Verizon signal strength is not as strong on wifi or LTE 😟

Actually no you are wrong. I have an Audi A4 and a VW Tiguan and my audio is choppy over bluetooth after updating to 9.2.1.

Same problem with choppy audio on an 2015 Mercedes.
So definitely an Apple problem!
Downgraded to 9.2 and all works fine...
