How do I listen to purchased music offline?

Hi,

I'm currently trying to download music onto my iPhone, music that I have purchased, but I have gotten so far through my list and I am now being told that my Apple Music has expired. I follow the link and it the tells me to subscribe at the cost of $11.99 a month. That's fair enough if I wanted to listen to music I haven't purchased, but I want to listen to music I have purchased offline. I don't always have access to wifi or even phone reception at times. My last two iPhones I was able to listen to my music both offline and for free. Why can't I do that anymore? Why should I have to pay a monthly fee for music I've already paid for? Please tell me there is a way around this as this is one reason why I love apple products.

Hi there Kate,

It sounds like you are looking to download your previous purchases that you had even before trying Apple Music, but you are being prompted to re-subscribe to Apple Music. Try downloading your music from the iTunes Store in this manner:

On an iPhone or iPod touch

  1. Open the iTunes Store app.
  2. From the menu the bottom of the screen, tap More.
  3. Tap Purchased, then tap Music.
  4. Tap Not on This iPhone or Not on This iPod.
  5. Scroll to find the song that you want to download, then tap it.
  6. Tap the Download icon User uploaded file to the right of the title. Your song downloads to your device.

From: Download your past purchases

Hi:

I have been having the same issue for the last couple of months. This is very inconvenient as I do not believe I should be charged a monthly fee to listen to music that I have already paid for. Sterling, I have done what you told Kate.Richardson19, but all of the songs that I have purchased show up on iTunes as already being on my phone -- yet when I try to listen to it on the Music app, it only works when I'm connected to wifi. I try to hit the cloud icon and it says the same thing (Your Apple Music membership has expired...). Ever since my trial subscription to Apple Music ended, this has been a recurring theme. I called Apple to see what was the problem and a representative told me that it was a "known issue and the team is working diligently to resolve it." I was content to wait, and when the 9.2 update included these changes, I thought it would stop. Granted, it has been a little bit better, letting me download some of the songs that I have purchased. The problem continues, however, with a vast majority of the songs that I have purchased and it is driving absolutely insane. I have tried just about everything and nothing seems to work. I just don't want to pay for Apple Music because, as Kate.Richardson19 has said, I don't always have access to wifi or even reception at times. There must be a glitch or something. And if not, there has to be a way around it. Please help!!
