Hidden photos still show in Camera Roll

As I tried to explain - Apple is using the word "Hide" differently from what many users are expecting.

You can temporarily remove photos from Moments by using the Hide command to make it easier to work with Moments and collections. It is necessary to have this tool, because otherwise we can only remove photos from Moments by deleting them from the library. There are no tools in Photos at all to protect photos from accidentally showing them and to keep them secret.

If you need to keep photos secret and locked away, so they will not accidentally turn up in search or a memory, or as places marker on a map, put them into a different Photos Library, in a different user account with a strong password.

Just discovered a workaround for this problem - someone else's idea but I can't remember whose. Open the photo and edit it by cropping to a very small part of the picture. You can then at any time edit again and undo the crop. Works a treat!

Hope so, Apple seems to have a way of screwing things up. They do a pretty god job with the phone which I have but would never have any of there laptop or pc products, can't even compare with the productivity of Windows products.

WHat about on the Photos on Mac. how do we get the same result as in iPhoto which hides pictures in all places with just a switch ?

A great idea! And it will save storage as well, since the preview files will be tiny. 😁

This is just more stupidity by apple, what is the point of hiding the photo if its not hidden. I don't know what they are thinking sometimes.

This will change in Photos on High Sierra and iOS 11. Then hidden photos will only be visible in the Hidden album.

Could it be done by saving a photo to a "note" and then delete the photo from the "photos" app and then locking the note?
