Using a Newly bought MBP running El Capitan, my Wifi is working fine while the Thunderbolt Ethernet Gigabit adapter is showing: a status "connected" on my network preferences but actually no way to get on the internet! Any solutions? thanks

Does the either cable work for other computers?
Yes they do, I doubled check, both cable are working.
I also reconfigure my device using the Assist button in my preferences.
The weirdest thing though is when I plug the LAN cable and the adapter on the thunderbolt port, Network status in my preferences shows a connected status. It should be a plug and play device right?
It says connected but no way to go on the internet. My Router is also doing fine my IPTV is working perfect.
I really need an Ethernet connection, I do a lot of video file transfer that requires a more stable connection than WIFI. Any help would be much appreciated.
Any suggestions?

and Network Preferences>Ethernet>Advanced

Have you checked the Service Order that the OS selects the connection to the router in
Open the Network pane in System Preferences
At the bottom of the left hand column you will see + - and a gear wheel
Click on the gear wheel and a drop down menu opens
click on Set Service Order
in the small window that opens drag Ethernet to the top so the OS checks to see if it is available first
then check Wi-Fi is second on the list
Now the OS will always check if the ethernet is available before checking for Wi-Fi
Thanks for your help! I finally figured what was the problem, I had to create a new PPPOE network connection on my modem to be able to use my router's Ethernet connection.
