iOS 9.2.1- Safari crashes everytime you tap on the search/address bar

Using iPad Air with iOS 9.2.1 which worked ok until this morning. I cleared history and web data in settings, which is when it all stopped working. I could look at bookmark pages, but as soon as touch search bar, it would crash and go back to home screen. As others have suggested, I turned off safari suggestions and it appears to be working again. Thanks for the work round guys, but it really needs addressing by Apple as its definately an issue.

I'm not so sure its 9.2.1. Had the problem on my updated iPhone 6, but wife's phone6 doesn't have the update and was still misbehaving.

Maybe it's not a bug, only a problem on Apple servers. As noted by 9to5mac.com when you type something on the search bar, the information is send to Apple Servers to "suggest" you an URL or to complete the address.

It does feel like a server issue, which would explain why this is suddenly happening to lots of people/devices - I don't think it was happening on our iOS 9 devices yesterday.

iOS 8 doesn't seem to have "safari suggestions" which would explain lack of an issue there ("spotlight suggestions" in iOS 8 is presumably different).

It 's true what they say kamonohashi in my wife's iPhone 5S with IOS 9.2.1 does not, either on my iPad mini with iOS9.2.1 , it can not be the fault.

I've had some issues with Safari on my desktop computer. Most of them are always related to cache or history navigation. Cleaning cache and disabling suggestions helped a lot of times, so tried the same on my iPhone. 😊

I thought it was a bug, but it just seem like a server issue.

I am on iOS 8.2 and the same problem started this morning. The work around re 'suggestions' works.

My wife just alerted me to this issue. Her iPhone 5 and her original iPad mini (both with 9.2.1) showed the same behaviour.

I checked my iPhone 5S (also 9.2.1) and it worked just like it should - for about ten minutes. - Then it also let Safari crash.

Weird stuff.

Same here. iPhone 6 with 9.2.1 installed.
But the workaround with deactivating Safari suggestions works like a charm 🙂

Same issue started for me. Still on iOS 9.1...guess it's not a 9.2 exclusive issue.

UPDATE: After upgrading to iOS 9.2.1 Safari does not exhibit this behaviour. Also, forgot to mention this is on iPhone 6

Tested on an iPhone 6s, two iPhone 6 and one iPhone 5s (All with iOS 9.2.1). Only one iPhone 6 is working normally, all the others present the problem.

Maybe it depends on something else more than only a "Server Problem" Only Apple knows...
