"About this Mac" appears in the apple menu, but nothing happens when clicked. The System Information app is not in the utilities folder at all. Updated to El Capitan about one month ago and updated to version 10.11.3 today. How does one obtain and install the System Information application?

Is the System Information app in your backups? Or was it never there at all?
I had system profiler before I installed el capitan. Have not had system information (i.e. "about this mac") since installation on Jan 5. Was hoping that update 10.11.3 would restore the system information application. I have tried to open system profiler from my backup, but it will not open in el capitan.
Does Spotlight find it? If not, you might be able to use Pacifist to extract it from a freshly download El Capitan installer. But I think it more likely that you will need an an El Capitan reinstall to get it back.
