Got my videos on a Synology NAS (DS213j).
In iTunes i can't modify the video cover of these files.
When having the same file on a local drive (e.g. desktop) any modification is possible.
Where to look at?
Any hints appreciated.

Whenever I see a question here mentioning NAS use I kind of throw up my hands because just about any weird behavior is possible when using iTunes with a NAS. If you want a real solution stop using the NAS (I know you don't want to hear that 🙂 ).

That makes me angry. Not using the file on my NAS is really no option.
BUT i got the answer:
There's something wrong when trying to modify a video file residing on a NAS in iTunes. No cover gets saved.
MY workaround:
So i guess there's something wrong with the rights when modifying videos using iTunes.
You could try a third party editor such as MetaZ. I would try it on one file first and then see who wins in the tagging struggle when you re-open iTunes. I have done this with audio files and iTunes usually is docile and reads the tags from the file.
