How do I author a DVD with DVD Studio Pro and an external DVD burner?

Hello,

I Am trying to author a DVD using DVD Studio Pro. My internal DVD player no longer works. I have an external DVD burner - slim portable DVD writer. I create the project in DVD Studio Pro and when in the program it runs fine when I 'stimulate' it. I can't burn it though. When I look for the external DVD burner in my finder it doesn't show up and I don't know how or where to select the option so it is programmed to burn the external DVD burner. Any advice? Thank you have a great week.

I Found a thread that addressed this issue, but didn't help me resolve my problem. Meg The Dog answered the me question written by Scott Stark. I tried her build and format solution, but after pressing burn a window appeared saying 'disc insertion Please insert acceptable DVD recordable media.' I tried using a different blank DVD, it didn't help. I'm using verbatim, I've heard those are the best blank DVDs you can buy. Thanks again for your time!
