Anker Ethernet Stopped Working after 10.11.3 Update

I have the USB-C 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Ethernet Adapter from Anker. It worked for six months. My MacBook no longer says the ethernet cable is plugged in after the Jan 27th 10.11.3 update. When I plug in a USB headset into one of the ports, it works just fine with the MacBook. So just the Ethernet is not registering anymore. Is anyone else having this issue?

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), 1.3 GHz 512 GB

So sorry for the late response! (Grad school makes me forget all else). I received a replacement from Anker and that one works but only if I plug it in and do a restart. I already tried doing that with the original hub, but that one is dead.

Oh, well. At least I have the replacement hub that works even if I have to restart my MacBook. It's not a perfect solution, but this MacBook drops WiFi all the time, and I can't have that when I'm presenting to my professors.

I've tried resetting SMC and PRAM, and that did not help. I've used Apple computers since 1985, and this is the only one that drops the WiFi. And not just my WiFi, but anyone's WiFi. All the other Macs in my house, my iPhone, my iPads, and the Apple TV stay connected to the WiFi, but not the MacBook. That's why I needed the Ethernet hub to begin with. When this semester is over, I will call Apple Care. I just don't have spare time to do that for a few weeks.

It's starting to surface that Apple changed something in 10.11.3 about how USB devices were detected and in the process seems to have broken a lot of Anker 3.0 USB devices that actually would work otherwise just fine. Try the "broken" device on Yosemite, El Capitan 10.11.2 or below, a Windows 10 system, Linux, or even a Raspberry Pi and it should work just fine.

As of the time of this writing, Apple hasn't publicly acknowledged the problem that I'm aware of. More people need to raise the issue to Apple's visibility, as this most certainly does not fall within their "it just works" mantra as pretty much everything else does, and file a bug report using developer.apple.com and feedback with apple.com/feedback against OS X. I can't see how they wouldn't fix it if they knew about it. Currently, the Hackintosh community appears to have a fix for their own OS.
