From Sherlock help:

"Sherlock helps you sift through information on the Internet to quickly find what you need by searching for information available from web services. You can find listings for movies, track your stock portfolio, locate restaurants close to your hotel, and much more."

Best is to try it and see if it's useful for you.

Even after trashing those plist and other Sherlock user preference files,
my Sherlock in 10.3.9 won't see anything in the Movies channel. I get
the near(est) town names if I start keying in the names, but then a
message box appears to say no information is available from (any town.)

In my other computer, with 10.4.8, the Sherlock functions have not failed.
Is there something going in with Panther? All this stuff used to just work.
Since I seldom go to a movie -- they're at a distance -- it's the principle.

There is supposed to be a way to add channels and urls to Sherlock, since
the Other Channels option can disappear without notice, the few default
international (UK?) channels will only show if you use Sherlock Help and
it will put the menu back in order to find and put them in the Other list.

Widgets are cumbersome and some of them can use excessive system
resources when supposedly turned off; and of course, widgets don't work
in pre OSX 10.4.x systems. The features are there, not necessarily in an
efficient package; unless you want to write your own widgets; then there is
a page or two of information in Apple Support about them, with links.

You can connect to the internet without a browser in Sherlock, but some
of the channels will launch Safari or default browser when you double-click.
That can be OK, unless you really don't want a browser in the first place.
Maybe there will be a better integration of Sherlock's core ideas into a
better or updated interface that is not Widgets, in a later system(?) But
for OSX 10.3.9, the Movie channel can't do bo diddley...!
