iPhone 6S with IOS 9 not working over USB with car audio (Range Rover 2011)

I purchased a new iphone 6S, now I cannot play music over the 30 pin cord. in my Range Rover 2011. My iphone 6 still works just not the 6S.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1

This was the problem for me. After calling LandRover and them not knowing the issue. They wanted to run a diagnostic at my expense.

After reading DrDJW's response I realised I had deleted iTunes as I only use Spotify for my music. Somehow the LandRover software requires iTunes to be installed and from what DrDJW says needs at least 1 song to be present.

I re-installed iTunes and added 1 song. Bingo!! It now recognises my device and I can continue playing Spotify through the system.

I had this problem. My iPhone 6 would not connect to the audio of my 2011 Range Rover and produced a "Device Error" message. After trying several things that did not fix the problem, I realized that the problem began after I cleared all of my music files from the music app on my Iphone a few months back. I'm guessing that because the car was unable to find any music files it became frustrated and saw this as an error. When I restored the music files to the app, the phone and car linked normally and now plays both my music files as well as Pandora and Amazon Music content. Hope this helps others. I spent several days frustrated over this issue.

Yes, I found when they moved from the 30-pin to the lightning, I had troubles with the OEM cable and my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. However, since the 5s, I've been able to connect again. However, using the adapter, I would experience it working one minute, and then disconnecting the next. This is what can happen with devices that seem to require an OEM cable. Is this just a USB on one end and the 30-Pin on the other? If so, have you tried just using an Apple lightning cable to connect with?

I understood what you were referring to. My Hyundai has something similar, just that one end contains a USB plug, and a small plug similar to a headphone. The other end is a 30-pin plug. I would use this in my vehicle, my 4s worked great, the 5s was questionable when I got the adapter, and my daughter's iPhone 6 would never work. I have the 6s now, and it will work most every time, but Hyundai has never replaced the 30-pin cable yet with the newer lightning cables, and their website says they do not support the phones newer than the iPhone 5s, which is funny since the 5 and 5s both use lightning cables. When I experience a problem with the cable, I just connect via Bluetooth. The only issue I have with that, is that is does not display as much information as you get with the cable, and it is easier to manage music on the phone, but not when you are driving. Apple also has a 30-pin to lightning adapter that has a short cable on it, and that one seems to work better than the one-piece solid adapter.
