Home Sharing error 5507

I keep receiving this error when I try to home share "Home Sharing could not be activated because an error occurred (5507)." I have tried deauthorizing my computer and reauthorizing it and tried turning off my firewall, but still the same error. I have home shared before and not sure why it is giving me this error now.

OS X El Capitan is OS X 10.11. You can likely get it for free from the Mac App Store.

If you want to know what it's got, there's http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/

You can check your OS X version by using the  menu and 'About this Mac'

It goes:

El Capitan (10.11)

Yosemite (10.10)

Mavericks (10.9)

Mountain Lion (10.8)

Lion (10.7)

This has just been annoying me for the last two hours!! Anyway, Here's how I finally got it sorted.

1. Type in your apple i.d and password and hit the 'turn on home sharing button'

2. Box shows up with 5507 error ( as usual)

3. Wait until the 6 digit access code pops up on your iPhone. ( I'm assuming it will pop up on your iPad too???) Mine came through after about ten seconds or so while I was cursing at the monitor!

4.Retype your apple i.d. password with the 6 digit code added to it.

Bingo! Home sharing lives!

Hope it works for you too 🙂
