I Have purchased a film off iTunes but don't have space to download, is there a way of watching it without downloading?

If you purchased an iTunes movie to rent, then no.

With iTunes movie rentals, Apple limits the download only to devices the movies are purchased for rental on.

With purchased to own movies, Apple allows downloads of the movie to multiple devices.

If you purchased the movie to own, you could download it to a computer running iTunes and then, activate the Home Sharing feature in both iTunes and on your iPad to stream the movie locally over WiFi from iTunes on a computer.

Your only other options are to backup the important data on your iPad either to iCloud, to iTunes on a computer or to some other cloud, offsite server storage service or something like DropBox OR to purchase local, portable, external WiFi enabled hard drives or WiFi enabled USB flash memory drives from Seagate, Western Digital or SanDisk, then you can selectively delete data off of your iPad until you have enough storage space to download the movie on your iPad.

OR

Purchase an Apple TV to download the iTunes movie onto and watch the movie from an Apple TV box.

Good Luck!
